Preparing your apartment for a private viewing

By the 2Rent team

A viewing is often the moment a tenant decides. A little preparation makes your unit easier to say yes to.

  1. Clean properly. Start with the kitchen and bathroom. A clean unit tells people it has been looked after. Our cleaning service can help.
  2. Fix the small things. Replace blown globes, stop dripping taps and make sure doors and windows close properly.
  3. Load some electricity. On a prepaid meter, an empty balance means dark rooms and a cold geyser during the viewing.
  4. Let the light in. Open curtains and blinds. Daylight makes a compact unit feel bigger.
  5. Clear the space. Put personal items away so people can picture their own things there.
  6. Know your numbers. Have the rent, deposit, move-in date and what's included ready, so you can answer questions on the spot.
  7. Check access. Make sure the gate, access control and visitor parking work for the people coming to view.
